GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Aaron Rodgers set a record. The Chicago Bears lost another quarterback. After a slow start in the red zone, the Green Bay Packers picked up the pace in the second half to overpower their offensively-challenged NFC North rivals.Rodgers threw for 326 yards and three touchdowns, Davante Adams and Ty Montgomery emerged as playmakers in the second half and Packers beat the Bears 26-10 on Thursday night.Rodgers was 39 of 56, setting a franchise mark for completions in a game. It was the Packers first contest without injured running back Eddie Lacy .A lot of moving parts, a very satisfying victory at home, coach Mike McCarthy said. The Packers (4-2) moved effectively on short gains most of the night, but couldnt break into the end zone until Adams caught the first of his two touchdown receptions with 9:11 left in the third quarter for a 13-10 lead.Rodgers and Adams combined again for a 4-yard score on the first play of fourth quarter for a 10-point lead. The Bears (1-6) lost quarterback Brian Hoyer to a broken left arm in the second quarter. With Jay Cutler already out with a right thumb injury, Chicago turned to third-stringer Matt Barkley. An offense that was already 31st in the league in scoring got worse. Barkley was 6 of 15 for 81 yards and two interceptions.Well, when you lose your starting quarterback it can be disruptive, Bears coach John Fox said. Its not an excuse, its just a reality,He tried to lean on the rush against the NFLs third-best run defense. It didnt work either.Kadeem Carey had 48 yards on 10 carries, including a 24-yarder. Receiver Alshon Jeffery was held to three catches for 33 yards against a Packers secondary without its top three cornerbacks because of injuries. It got so bad for the Bears that Rodgers had more completions (37) than the Bears had offensive plays (36) by 5:31 of the fourth quarter. That 37th completion for Rodgers was a 2-yard touchdown pass to Randall Cobb for a 16-point lead.Adams, Montgomery and Cobb each finished with at least 10 receptions.HOYER HURTHoyer left early in the second quarter after getting hit by Julius Peppers and Clay Matthews on an incompletion on third-and-6 from midfield. The right-handed Hoyer looked as if he landed on his left arm . He was attended to by trainers on the field for a couple minutes before going to the locker room. Hoyer was 4 of 11 for 49 yards.TRIPLE THREATAdams had 13 catches for a career-high 132 yards, making Jordy Nelson-like moves to spin out of tackles for extra yards. Adams had just been cleared earlier Thursday from the NFLs concussion protocol after leaving the loss Sunday to Dallas.Cobb finished with 11 catches for 95 yards.Montgomery, who got the start in the backfield with running backs Lacy (ankle) and James Starks (knee) out, finished with 10 catches for 66 yards, and nine carries for 60 yards. You do what you have to do, you play the way you have to play, McCarthy said.BIG FLOYDThe Bears only touchdown came from rookie pass-rushing linebacker Leonard Floyd, who forced Rodgers to fumble on third-and-10 from the 15 on a sack. Floyd recovered the ball in the end zone for a 10-6 lead, 30 seconds into the third quarter.Floyd had been limited in practice this week with a calf injury.Hes got those kind of abilities. Its been problematic a little bit having him out there, but it was good to have him back out there tonight, Fox said. The Packers scored touchdowns on their next three drives.SLOW STARTThe Packers moved effectively with short passes in the first half but stalled on three drives inside the 22. Mason Crosby salvaged two series with field goals, but the Packers went scoreless on another drive when Montgomery was stopped on a fourth-and-goal run from the 1.Green Bay, which led 6-3 at the half, exploited the Bears underneath coverage. They also threw short passes as a substitute for the running game.QUOTABLE:It means we threw it a lot. But a lot of times records like these are achieved in losses when youre way behind, Rodgers about his completions record.INJURY REPORTBears: Besides Hoyer, RG Kyle Long left in the second quarter with an arm injury.Packers: RB Don Jackson, who was just activated from the practice squad Thursday to replace Lacy, left in the first quarter with a hand injury.---AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and http://twitter.com/AP-NFL---Follow Genaro Armas at: https://twitter.com/GArmasAPNike Air Max 95 Hombre Rebajas . -- An ugly goal by Nick Bonino helped the Anaheim Ducks overcome the defensive-minded Phoenix Coyotes on a night when their ragged power play continued to struggle. PRETORIA, South Africa -- Oscar Pistorius, the double-amputee Olympian described by a judge as a fallen hero, was sentenced on Wednesday to six years in a South African prison for the murder of girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, in a ruling viewed by some as too lenient. However, Judge Thokozile Masipa appeared to anticipate criticism of a jail term that fell far short of the normally mandated 15 years for murder under South African law, declaring: Our courts are courts of law, not courts of public opinion.Pistorius, who shot Steenkamp through the door of a toilet cubicle in his home in 2013, was asked to stand and face Masipa as she announced his sentence in a wood-paneled courtroom in the South African capital, Pretoria. He was calm after the ruling, embracing his aunt and tearful sister before being led down a courtroom staircase to a holding cell ahead of being taken to prison.Later, a convoy of police cars with lights flashing and sirens wailing left a side entrance of the courthouse. In the convoy was a van with tinted windows, possibly carrying Pistorius. The sentencing was the latest act of a three-and-a-half-year legal drama that has often played out on live television and shown the fall from grace of a runner once viewed as an inspiration to many for overcoming his disability. Both of Pistorius legs were amputated below the knees when he was 11 months old because of a congenital defect. He made history by running at the 2012 Olympics on his carbon-fiber running blades and was one of the worlds most recognizable athletes.Hes a fallen hero -- he has lost his career and he is ruined financially, said Masipa, who originally convicted Pistorius of manslaughter, a ruling that was overturned by an appeals court that instead convicted him of murder and sent the case back to her for sentencing. In explaining the sentence, Masipa said there are substantial and compelling circumstances to show leniency toward Pistorius because he is a good candidate for rehabilitation, is unlikely to commit another crime and had shown what appeared to be genuine remorse over Steenkamps death.Pistorius, 29, maintained he killed Steenkamp, a 29-year-old model and reality TV star, by mistake thinking she was an intruder hiding in the bathroom early on Valentines Day 2013. Prosecutors alleged that he killed her intentionally after the couple argued.Pistorius will be eligible to apply for parole after three years, according to legal experts. Prosecutors, who had asked that he be sentenced to 15 years in prison,, can appeal for a heavier sentence but have yet to comment on whether they will do so.ddddddddddddThe family accepts the judgment, Anneliese Burgess, a spokeswoman for the Pistorius family, said outside the courthouse. The Steenkamp family did not criticize the sentence. The family has said it before they wanted the law to run its course. It has done so. No further comment. They will keep a dignified silence, said Dup de Bruyn, Steenkamp family representative.Legal expert Marius du Toit described the sentence as lenient but not wrong. Some people who gathered outside the courthouse were critical. The law didnt take its course, said Dukes Masanabo, a South African sports official who had hoped Pistorius would be sentenced to 10 to 12 years, not six.He said the sentence is too light because Pistorius was sentenced to almost the same sentence -- five years -- for his earlier manslaughter conviction. He served one year of that sentence before being place under house arrest at his uncles mansion in Pretoria, and he had some freedom of movement outside the home during certain hours. The time that Pistorius has already served in prison is not subtracted from his new sentence.Another South African, Sarah Maete, said she wanted Pistorius to get the full 15 years in prison for murder. Its not enough, she said.In delivering her sentence, Masipa referred to the difficulties she faced in deciding a sentence that satisfies every relevant interest in a case that captured the worlds attention and led to extremes of opinion over the celebrated athlete. She noted that Pistorius had fired four times -- not once -- through the closed toilet door and spoke of the devastating effect the crime had on Steenkamps family.Ultimately, mitigating circumstances outweigh the aggravating factors, the judge said.Steenkamps parents, Barry and June, were present in the courtroom, which was packed with relatives of both Pistorius and Steenkamp, journalists and other observers.Pistorius defense lawyers had asked for no jail time at all, saying he should be allowed to do charity work with children.Ulrich Roux, a South African lawyer and commentator who is not involved in the Pistorius case, said it had opened a window for South Africans into how their justice system works, including cross-examination and how a judge reaches a decision. He said: Its been a huge learning curve for our society.
